Before you call

Questions families ask us on the first call

Should I talk to the detective who left me a card?

Not before you've spoken with a lawyer. You can be polite, take their number, and tell them your lawyer will be in touch. That isn't an admission of anything.

My son was arrested last night. Can you talk to us, or only to him?

We'll talk with you about how the process works, bond and the next court date. The details of what happened we discuss with him, so that what he tells us stays privileged.

What happens at the first court date?

Usually it's short. The charge is read, a plea of not guilty is entered, conditions of release are set, and a next date is given. Our guide on arraignment walks through it.

How do your fees work?

Most of our cases are a flat fee for each stage, agreed in writing before we start. We'll tell you the number on the first call or after the first meeting, and what it covers.

Talk to a lawyer

Call us before you talk to anyone else about the charge

A lawyer answers during office hours, and we return evening calls the same night. The first conversation is about where things stand and what comes next.

Please don't leave the details of what happened in a voicemail. Your name and number are enough.
