What we defend

Expungement and record clearing

A charge that was dismissed years ago can still show up when you apply for a job or an apartment. Often it doesn't have to.

  • Your record, read

We pull your full record and tell you what can be cleared, now or after a waiting period.

  • Dismissed charges

Charges that were dismissed or ended in acquittal are usually the quickest to clear.

  • Older convictions

Some convictions can be cleared after a set number of years without a new offense.

  • After the order

We confirm the court, the police and the state records all show the change.

Questions

What people ask us about clearing a record

Will an expunged record still show up on background checks?

Official court and police records are sealed or destroyed once the order is entered. Private background companies can lag behind, so we tell you how to ask them to update.

Do I have to go to court for an expungement?

Often not. Many petitions are decided on the paperwork. If a hearing is set, we go with you and tell you beforehand what will be asked.

How long does it take?

It depends on the court and the kind of record, but it's usually a matter of months, not years. We'll give you an estimate once we've read your record.
